Why the cross? Why did Jesus have to die the ugly death that he died? Why all the blood, the agony? If his death is what mattered, why did it have to be so barbaric and gruesome? Why could there not be another way? Why Jesus, and why like that?
These are questions I can never fathom the answer to. I am reading the Ragamuffin Gospel though, and am learning that sometimes these questions are not important. As Manning puts it, while all these questions are being asked, "the saved sinner is prostrate in adoration, lost in wonder and praise".
I tend to be the guy asking too many questions. You?
